Thinking about diligence in our work as steady, ernest and energetic, I would add one more thing – integrity. In all that we do, we should give our all to it. We, as Christians, are called to a higher standard because we do it as unto God himself. And we ask for the Holy Spirit to help us.

I definitely need to spend more time thinking about my motives and my heart. God is looking at our heart. I might be doing a good thing but my heart may not be in it. The Holy Spirit can help me in the examination of my heart. Thank you God for the help of the Holy Spirit in my life.

And I pray for our leaders to listen to the commands in God’s Word, to lead us in godly, right and beneficial ways. I have been thinking about wisdom. It would be so easy if we could just get it, like turning on a light bulb. I think wisdom comes with maturity. I believe we know we have it when we exercise it, when we are helping out other people. When someone says, wow, I didn’t think about it that way.

Yes, indeed it is discipline and perseverance that give me hope for the future. My hope for the future is to NOT be so satisfied and comfortable that I take blessings from God for granted. Thinking about the verse in Proverbs, we really just need to focus on getting ourselves in line with what God wants us to be. Yet in Psalms we see God giving us eyes and ears to be help to the needy and the oppressed. Life is a balancing act of studying and praying along with doing and giving. Come, Holy Spirit, be my guide!!

Yes, I am in agreement with asking God for wisdom and understanding. We do that through studying scripture and in prayers. I also believe it is important to ask for patience in waiting on Him. For the times in my life I have seen that His plan is better than I could have ever thought or imagined! Trust God.

The perseverance, the hunger, the motive, whatever word you call it, it stems from deep within us that spurs us on to doing those actions that are good for us to do. The peace and satisfaction from doing it, is like icing on the cake.

Amos describing Israel is exactly the picture of us in America. As I write this on Memorial day and remember our service people past, present and future, I can’t help but think that we as Christians need to be fighting to get the message of Christ out there. We will risk persecution and death but isn’t that worth fighting for?

I am reading this today as I listen to a thunderstorm where the rain is running very swiftly down the gutter and down the street. I am very thankful for God’s word which runs swiftly down deep in my heart! Thanks be to God!

Like David, I do pray for protection from my sins. I am grateful to the Holy Spirit for revealing my sins. And when that doesn’t break me, the Holy Spirit gives me great Christian friends who will rebuke and nudge me. Thanks be to God for all His gifts and blessings!
