Meditation
Placeholder for the November 13 meditation … to be updated as soon as possible.
Today I’m giving thanks for my parents. Even though they are no longer with me, I still think of them and the things they taught me. I’m grateful for their love and support. I know I was very fortunate to have had a stable and secure upbringing. At the time I took it for granted, but I’m old enough now to recognize that many do not have such good fortune in their family relationships. But I was blessed, and am still blessed today to have had my parents. “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you (Exodus 20:12).”
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For His mercies endure forever. He destined us to be with Him. May we be beacons of His Light, to show others how to reach their destiny in Him.
I too was blessed with loving parents and now appreciate what a gift that was. Divorce was rare in our circle of friends and family. My childhood friends and I are still amazed and grateful that God blessed our lives in this way. He gives us the tools through this experience to teach others how to create a loving and respectful Christ centered home – but it doesn’t come without commitment, healthy compromise, and courage in the face of temptation – as Paul points out in his letters.
