Meditation

Alas, I do not have any updated meditations this week either. Work is going well, but I’m still adjusting to the increased energy demands. I’m struggling to manage the personal on top of my new work routine. Instead of writing devotionals, yesterday was spent cooking soup for work lunches and doing many, many chores. Even now, I’m not caught up with what I need to get done — but I’m planning to rest today before the work week begins again. Prayers for productivity both at work and at home will be appreciated. Thank you!

Placeholder for the November 14 meditation … to be updated as soon as possible.

Today I’m thankful for my family — both those who have passed on, and those who are still present. I mentioned my parents yesterday. But I also have brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents… the usual assortment. I come from doctors, farmers, shoemakers, preachers, mechanics, merchants, and weavers. I have a large family, and many relatives. Again, having lots of relatives was something I took for granted, but I know now that many people do not have siblings or relatives or much family at all. So I’m grateful for how I’ve been blessed. Thank you, Father God!

  • Kirsty, I am so impressed you were making homemade soup for lunches at work! As I was reading 2 Chronicles, it struck me that, in the battles between the various tribes, kingdoms and neighboring lands, skirmishes were often started because one ruler made an assumption that was false, such as taking a peaceful visit from neighbors and surmising they were really spies. An attack ensued and thousands tragically lost their lives. Typically peace would not be sought early on, to prevent war, but only when one side realized they were losing. Tragedy upon tragedy, and we ignore God’s basic truths, such as seeking justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God. He wants us to walk with Him. How amazing is that!?
