Meditation
Placeholder for the November 17 meditation … to be updated as soon as possible.
This may seem obvious to anyone who has seen my Instagram feed over the past year or two, but I am thankful for flowers. Tulips, daffodils, azaleas, rhododendrons, cherry blossoms, dogwood blossoms, roses (roses, roses, roses!), dahlias, lavender, hydrangeas, and many more flowers have been captured in their glory by my camera. I love the different colors and textures, the folds and wrinkles, and how the flowers change over time. Flowers combine beauty and function — but their beauty is such that I completely forget that there’s a practical purpose behind that display of form and color. Each flower is a singular marvel, and yet there are multitudes! It’s mind-boggling to think of how much beauty can be found in every corner of the globe. Even though it’s not the right “season” for many flowers now, I’m grateful for all that I have been able to see and experience. I’m grateful, too, that in the days to come I will be able to take joy in tomorrow’s blossoms. So today I thank God for flowers. Hallelujah!
I had not realized that Andrew started as on of John’s disciples first, but this is indicated in John 1. I also can imagine Jesus chuckling as he notes Philip believed He was the Messiah, because Jesus knew Philip had been sitting under a fig tree. Truly God knows our every move, thought and intent. Foe me, that is a comfort, and part of my conscience, often leading to conviction about things I must change within myself.
