Today, as always, I am thankful for language and communication and the power of story. I love a well-crafted sentence. I am grateful for authors, and for books that move your mind and your emotions. I am passionate about books and reading for many reasons — after all, books can change your life. But mostly I’m grateful for Scripture and the living Word.

Psalm 138 says when we call on the Lord, He strengthens our souls; when we walk through trouble, He preserves our lives. He doesn’t necessarily take the trouble away, as we usually want, but he enables us to endure them. This increases our faith and reliance on Him, and teaches us to depend on Him every step of the way.
