God gave us a weekly schedule to include 6 days for work and 1 for rest. In modern society, we have 5 work days at a job, 1 for chores at home, and 1 for rest. But we tend to think of the day for rest as being to do whatever we want. The verses tell of people going up to the house of the Lord, rebuilding the temple, serving in the temple, and we’ve read of all the generations come to serve Him. A day of rest is meant to rest our bodies, nourish our souls. Lord, remind me of the need, ever work, to dedicate a day to focus on You, calm my busy mind, recalibrate my pace, prepare for a week to come, by storing up Your word in my heart. This arms and rejuvenates me to face the battles of a new week. Hallelujah!
