Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day,
or like vinegar poured on a wound,
is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
Meditation
Placeholder for the October 10 meditation … to be updated as soon as possible.
What a contrast the verses in Ephesians 6 are, compared to the violence described in II Samuel. For most of us today, we no longer to be physically ready for battles between nations, or leaders, as the tribes and factions in Israel experienced. We are to focus on spiritual warfare and arm ourselves with God’s truth, righteousness, and other “armor”, to live and be examples of His holiness. It’s easy to forget this spiritual battle is real. In our middle-class, Caucasian, American safety net, we easily get complacent and lukewarm. If I’m too comfortable, that may be a sign I’m not engaged in a battle seeking truth, offering mercy, promoting justice, or walking humbly near my God.
