Meditation

No updated meditations this week. I’m still struggling to manage work and personal demands. I think I’m doing better with managing personal tasks because I’m less far behind this week than last! But I appreciate your prayers as I would like to start writing devotionals again. Thank you!

Placeholder for the November 21 meditation … to be updated as soon as possible.

Today I’m thankful for plenty. I got groceries yesterday, and now my refrigerator is overflowing with food for breakfast, food for lunches, and food for dinners. My cupboards are overflowing, too. I have no place to put the nuts I got to add to my sack lunches, so now that’s just cluttering up my counter space. It’s truly a blessing not to worry about food to eat, and to know that I have more than enough. I’ve gone through tight times in the past when the cupboards were emptied and I had to count my pennies to get just a few groceries, but I’ve been fortunate. Those times have been rare, and it never got to the point that I didn’t have food to eat. I’ve taken this largess for granted for most of my life, but I’m more aware now that many in my own community are not so fortunate. When I was growing up, it seemed like poverty and hunger belonged to far away countries — but it’s actually in my own back yard. This Thanksgiving week, I’m grateful to be blessed with plenty. May I be generous, by God’s grace, with those in need.

  • Psalm 104:26 references the ships of the see and then Leviathan, which God made to play in it. I have seen whales, porpoises and seal lions follow ships and seemingly play around them. One reason may be that a ship cutting thru the water causes fish to swim away from its sides, thus easier to catch. But scripture says God made Leviathan to play in the sea. I love that image and contemplating that side of God, the value of play and the wonder of creation.
